Where a big car helps on this coast
Groups on this coast tend to split their week between a resort and a series of short drives, and the second part is where the large car pays. Sozopol, Pomorie and the salt lakes are all under an hour, so nobody is trapped in the back for long.
The awkward part is parking rather than driving. Nessebar old town and the older parts of Sozopol were built long before cars, and a long wheelbase is a genuine disadvantage in both. Park at the edge and walk in, which is what residents do anyway.
One practical note for August. The resort strip north of Burgas is slow in the evening, and a full car in stop start traffic is where an automatic gearbox stops being a luxury. If your group is seven people in high season, filter for both and book early.
